What is a Seamless Pipe?
Seamless pipes are derived from solid steel that is in sheet or bar form and is formed into a solid round shape known as “billets” which are then heated and cast over a form such as a piercing rod to create a hollow tube or shell. These kinds of pipes are known for their ability to withstand pressure more efficiently in comparison to other methods of pipe manufacturing processes, as well as being fast and cost-effective. The alloy has the ability to resist chloride environment and sulfide stress corrosion, and its strength is about twice that of standard austenitic stainless steel. When higher mechanical strength / lighter weight is required, the alloy can be successfully used as a substitute for 300 series austenitic stainless steel. F51 is easy to use many standard arc welding equipment for welding, but it is not recommended for oxyethylene block welding, because carburization of welding metal may occur.
